MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 16-year-old girl was killed at what neighbors are calling a post-graduation party in Orange Mound over the weekend.
A company hired to provide security at the event, KC Armour Service, is now speaking out about the incident, saying the shooting took place outside the venue.
A 16-year-old girl was killed and an 18-year-old boy was injured in the shooting at 1383 Airways Boulevard at around 11:45 p.m. on Saturday. The security company said the shooting occurred during a “high school event.”
A woman in the area told WREG that she heard the shooting at Park Avenue and Airways around the same time a “large” graduation party was being held at a strip mall in the area.
“We want to make it explicitly clear that KC Armour Service/Memphis S.R.U. was not involved in any way with the act of violence that occurred,” said the company in a social media post.
KC Armour Service also noted that no member of the security team discharged a firearm or engaged in any aggressive force.
