MEMPHIS, Tenn.– The band at Central High School came out in full force to welcome their fellow classmates either back to school or those that are incoming freshman Monday morning.
“I am just hoping that my daughter has a great year. This is her first year in high school, so I am hoping that it goes wonderful,” said MSCS parent, Dennis Murphy.
Another MSCS parent said they hoping for a great year also.
“I am just hoping for a great school year, that all the kids will get along and everyone have a peaceful and prosperous school year,” she said.
But what’s planned for the new school year is not something Dr. Roderick Richmond, interim superintendent, wanted to discuss as he was led away as WREG attempted to seek information.
However, Richmond did share his hopes for Belle Forest Elementary heading into 2026.
“We are looking for our students to have all the materials and resources that they have. We are looking forward to having a highly effective teacher in front of all out students if possible,” he stated.
Dr. Richmond is currently under an 18-month contract that is set to end next July.
The school board is set to evaluate Richmond no later than February 1.
