MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Shelby-County Schools are still working to fill vacant positions for the new 2025-2026 school year, the district told WREG on Monday morning.

At the beginning of July, MSCS held a hiring fair for those in search of a job as a teacher, counselor, support staff, a roofer, welder, and more.

It was reported in 2024 by the Tennessee Department of Education that there were a total of 7,441 vacant positions open during the 2023-2024 school year.

And now, MSCS says they only have 330 positions that remain unfilled and 105 recommendations.

If the 105 recommendations are all placed, then there will only be 225 vacancies.

WREG will keep you updated on this matter.
