MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Hundreds of fans are preparing for Glorilla’s first-ever ‘Glo Bash,’ happening tonight at the FedEx Forum.
The Memphis rapper’s big show is happening days after she was arrested on drug charges in Georgia; however, her attorney says it was a wrongful arrest.
“I’m just really expecting to have a whole lot of fun. I’m not from here, so I’m ready to turn up in Memphis and have a good time,” said Lex, visiting from North Carolina.
“Big Glo brought me here, like what is y’all saying? Yeah, Glo,” said Dimpleez, from out of town.
“So, to be fair, we’re in town for another event. But once we heard that this was going down, we are definitely going to try to make it tonight. We’re very excited for it,” said Shonda, from out of town.
For the first time ever, Glorilla will headline her own event in her hometown of Memphis.
She’s following in the footsteps of Yo Gotti, who signed her to his record label, CMG, and hosted birthday bashes at the FedEx Forum for nearly 10 years.
Similar to Yo Gotti’s previous events, Glorilla’s concert will be filled with special guests, some of whom have already been announced.
As fans prepare for Friday night’s show, they’re also reacting to the rapper’s arrest in Georgia for drug charges.
She turned herself in on July 22, just days before her ‘Glo Bash’ in Memphis.
Her attorney, Marissa Goldberg, says Forsyth County Sheriff’s deputies initially responded to a burglary at the rapper’s home; however, during the investigation, they executed a search warrant after deputies say they smelled illegal drugs.
The Sheriff’s Office says marijuana was found in the master bedroom, and although the homeowner, Glorilla, was out of town at the time, she was charged and released on bond.
“I love Glo. So, like, rather she guilty or not, I’m on her side, but she wasn’t even at home. So, it’s just like, it could have been anybody, it could have been the burglar drugs,” said Dimpleez.
There is a clear bag policy and people will have to go through a metal detector before entering the venue.
Doors open at 7 p.m., and the concert starts at 8 p.m. Several special guests are expected to perform tonight.
