Fun events happening in Memphis this weekend

MEMPHIS, Tenn. —  It’s finally Friday, which means it’s time to look at several events happening across the greater Memphis area this weekend. There is something for everyone.

Let’s get started with the Bluff City Fair, which starts on Friday and lasts until June 1. You can ride your favorite carnival rides, eat fair food, and view performances. Gates open today at 4 p.m. at Liberty Park.


Admission on Friday begins at $5. There is free admission on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Calling all anime and comic book fans! Also happening all weekend is Mega Con, the Mid-South’s comic convention. Doors open Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Memphis Sports and Event Center. You can purchase tickets online starting at $25.

On your mark, get ready, get set, and go! The Great American River Run is Saturday, and after that, there will be an after-party hosted by 901 Run Club! It will be held at Groovy Gratitude from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. It is free to attend.

After that, enjoy a throwback-style field day celebration where adults get to be kids again, minus the homework. Adult Field Day will be held at Crosstown Brewing Co. starting at 3 p.m. There will be tug of war, the old school sack race, and even a beer chug relay. Best of all, it’s free to attend.

For Sunday Funday, relish in an unforgettable evening of music under the stars with Sunset Symphony. The Memphis Symphony Orchestra plays the strings at Overton Park Shell starting at 7:30 p.m. It’s free to attend, just make sure you bring a blanket or lawn chair!

Celebrate Memorial Day at Carolina Watershed for the 5th annual Memorial Day Barbecue. Enjoy mouth-watering food, giveaways, and live music from 3 to 9 p.m.
