MEMPHIS — He was the biggest name in the ‘Am’ portion of Wednesday’s Pro-Am at the FedEx St. Jude Invitational.

He was Tigers basketball coach Penny Hardaway, who had as many fans, even more than many of the PGA’s best. Hardaway teaming up with Viktor Hovland and Mackenzie Hughes over 18 holes at the new look Southwind.

But even though Wednesday was about the golf, it also marked the first time Hardaway talked about the current legal troubles of top Tiger transfer Sincere Parker. Parker pleading not guilty to charges of aggravated assault and vandalism against an ex-girlfriend.

“Obviously we leave that into the law’s hands. But as far as the kid himself, we’re still going to love him. We have to. That’s what this group is all about. We’re not trying to judge anybody. We put that in the law’s hands,” Hardaway said. “We don’t condone anything negatively. We just know that we’re going to support him as our guy and let the laws handle what they need to handle.”

When asked if he can see a scenario where Parker is not a part of the Tigers this year, “I can’t even answer that,” Hardaway said. “Because I really don’t know. Like I said, we’re gonna let the law handle that and just go from there.”
