MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Last week, former Memphis Tiger star Calvin Austin III showed support for his former college teammate Anthony Miller at his youth skills camp.

Seven days later, Austin hosted a camp of his own, but with a twist.

Instead of equipping kids with more tools to help them run better routes, Calvin decided to host a free STEAM camp for kids at his old high school, Harding Academy.

The camp highlighted science, technology, and the arts to show kids that they can go pro in things other than sports.

” <” There’s obviously someone like me who’s in the NFL. Yes, that was my dream and everything. But you don’t have to put all your eggs in one basket. You can for sure can aspire to be a professional athlete. But just like I say to myself, I could have been a lawyer. I could have done many things because I pushed myself mentally, and just to show the kids that you can do the same thing. They can be a doctor, a lawyer, a nurse, a dentist, an engineer, astronaut. There are so many different things you can be, it’s just not sports,” said Austin.
