MEMPHIS, Tenn.– A man wanted for nearly seven years after a deadly East Memphis shooting was arrested Thursday by U.S. Marshals and Memphis Police.
Dakarin Arnett, 23, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 20-year-old, Jerald Holiday Jr.
Holiday was found shot to death Sept. 23, 2018 at the intersection of Kaye Road and White Station Road.

Arnett was 16 years old at the time of the shooting. After an investigation, Memphis Police issued a warrant for his arrest in 2022.
Arnett also had previous outstanding warrants for aggravated assault and domestic assault.
He was taken into custody by marshals, task force members and Memphis Police Department’s Fugitive and TACT units at a house in the 1800 block of Wessex in Whitehaven.
The U.S Marshall’s office spent weeks preparing to take down Arnett before finally pursuing him.
“We went to this address on Wessex, I believe, and went to the door and a relative answered the door and we could see him inside the home past the person opening the door. We called him out and he immediately gave up with no issues,” said U.S. Marshall, Tyreece Miller.
And while it took 7 years for an arrest to be made, Miller is happy that someone will be held accountable.
“Sometimes these things take time and while it’s unfortunate at the end of the day, this person will be held accountable and he will have a court date. He will have to answer to these charges,” Miller said.
Arnett’s court date is scheduled for Monday at 9 a.m.
