A driver trying to avoid the crash Sherry Lowe, stated, “I saw the police officers and traffic is being blocked, we cannot get through. I am trying to get to Lemoyne-Owen this morning.”
She was one of the dozens of drivers having to navigate around.
“I am thinking at 2, it will be over by now,” she said.
Police say it all started when they attempted a traffic stop on one of the vehicles involved in the crash. However, the vehicle refused to stop.
At that time, officers say they deactivated their emergency lights and did not pursue the vehicle.
Shortly afterward, the vehicle was involved in a crash. Police say one man in the vehicle was detained.
This is still an ongoing investigation.
