MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Tennessee Department of Transportation is planning a major resurfacing and bridge repair project on Interstate 240 in East Memphis.

TDOT says the project will resurface a 4.1-mile section of I-240 between Poplar Ave. and Summer Ave., starting on Wednesday, June 18.

Construction is scheduled to be complete on or before Nov. 30.

The project will also include repairs to the I-240 bridges over the Shelby Farms Greenline near the I-40/I-240 interchange.

TDOT says the majority of the resurfacing work will take place overnights Sunday through Thursday from 7PM to 6AM. One lane will remain open during those hours.

The bridge work at the Greenline will require two full weekend closures of I-240 East. So far, TDOT has not announced the dates of those closures.

APAC-Tennessee Inc. was awarded the $8 million contract for the project.
