Suspect on the run after stealing car; crashing into home in Arlington

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A suspect is on the run, accused of stealing a car before crashing it into a home in Arlington, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

At around 9:30 p.m. Friday evening, following the conclusion of the Arlington Star Spangled Spectacular Independence Day Celebration, a vehicle was stolen.


Deputies said the suspect attempted to flee the area but subsequently collided with the Village of Arlington subdivision sign at the intersection of Wylie St. and Douglas St. and struck a residence.

The individual then fled the scene on foot as deputies arrived.

Deputies and the Tennessee Highway Patrol are actively conducting a search of the area.
