JACKSON, Tenn. — The search continues for quadruple murder suspect Austin Drummond after his abandoned car was pulled from a Jackson neighborhood.
The 2016 white Audi was found in a wooded area on MCO Road Friday, and the vehicle may have gotten stuck in some mud. It took crews a while to remove the car.
Jackson police said it appeared Drummond had been living in the Audi. Neighbors said there are two ways to access the area where the car was located. They were glad to see it go.
“Because basically that was his place of living, and now it’s gone. Where is he going to live? You can live under the trees, but you’ll be seen,” said Rebekah Nolen.
Federal, state, and local officers searched the area where the Audi was found. There was also a large police presence at an apartment complex less than a mile away.
Two helicopters hovered over the Villages of Campbell Oaks. Officers could be seen walking away from an apartment building with a battering ram, but it’s not clear if they entered any units. No one was taken into custody.
A mother of five at the complex was alarmed when she saw all the police vehicles and found out who they were looking for.
“It’s crazy we keep from California, so it’s definitely crazy.”
The TBI said Drummond was spotted in Jackson on Wednesday and has direct ties to the city.
The confirmed sighting was one day after the bodies of James Matthew Wilson, Adrianna Williams, Cortney Rose, and Braydon Williams were found in Lake County.
A baby related to the victims was also found safe in front of a house in Dyer County. That’s when the investigation into the incident began
TBI director David Rausch believes Drummond is still in the area. He’s asking residents to stay vigilant and for Drummond to turn himself in.
“Austin is considered armed and dangerous. This is why we are advising the public not to engage with him, to call us if you see him, if you have info about his whereabouts, to reach out,” said TBI Director David Rausch.
The TBI and U.S. Marshals are offering a $15,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
