MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police are looking for a stranger who approached two elementary schools students Monday on their way to school.

Administrators at Corning Achievement Elementary School on Dabbs Avenue in Frayser sent out a letter Monday to parents letting them know about the incident.

Principal Danielle Harris said two students were walking along Corning Avenue, near the school, when they were confronted by stranger who told them to “come here.”

The kids felt something was wrong and turned around and ran back home.

“I’m very proud of their reaction and proud that they made it to safety and even more proud they were able to feel comfortable enough to tell me exactly what happened,” said Harris.

Harris said the school district is now working with police and have asked the department to beef up patrols before and after school.

She also wants the city to clear an overgrown lot between the school and Corning Avenue.

“I would like to have a clear line of sigh to that street,” said Harris.

The students were not able to give a good description of the man.
