FAYETTE COUNTY, Tenn. — Deputies in Fayette County were led on an early morning high-speed chase.
Oakland Police officers went to check on a suspicious vehicle with two people in it that they saw backed into a driveway, but the car quickly sped away.
Deputies tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver started driving erratically. Police said it drove through ditches and rammed two Sheriff’s vehicles. It then wrecked near Macon Drive and Fisherville Road, just west of the 385 interchange.
Deputies arrested on multiple charges the two men in the car, Rico Fleming and Jeremy Kee, both 26. They were both wanted on outstanding warrants.
Narcotics were also discovered in the vehicle.
No one was injured in the crash.
Investigators are also looking into whether Fleming and Kee are connected to the recent high volume of car burglaries in the area.
Fayette County Sheriff’s Office inspector Ray Garcia confirmed that Fleming is the same man who had been charged in a drive-by shooting on Christmas Day 2011 in Holly Springs, Mississippi, that led to the death of a 16-year-old. However, those charges were later dismissed.
