MEMPHIS, Tenn. — To celebrate Pride Month, Memphians came out in droves to Beale Street for the Memphis Pride Parade.
The parade was originally scheduled for June 7, but had to be delayed due to the weather.
While parade-goers didn’t have to worry about the rain, they had to brave the hot weather.
Still, those we talked to said it was important to show up and support the Mid-South LGBTQ+ community.
“It’s just love, you know? Love wins,” an attendee said. “Love is on top. We are all here to show up for one another, to show each other that we are human beings and that being a human being is enough.”
“I can feel the love from everybody around here and everybody is caring,” another attendee said. “They know it’s hot. So, they got us some fans. I am not worried about the rainbow colors, because I love the rainbow.”
The annual Pride Festival, which usually takes place after the parade, has been rescheduled for September 14 at the Overton Park Shell.
