Pass It On: Keshun Spivey

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — When Darcus Curtis met her friend Keshun Spivey, he was working, but health problems forced him to leave and eventually cost him a limb.

“After he left and after I left, we still just remained friends because he’s a sweet guy,” Dracus said. “He helps everybody and he go out of his way to help everybody.”

Now, Dracus is looking to share that same kindness with her friend.

“I wanted to Pass It On to him because he’s going through a hard time right now,” she said.

When Dracus and WREG found Spivey, he was outside with his mother enjoying the nice weather.

Dracus was happy to share with him why we were there.

“So, News Channel 3 decided to help me out,” Dracus said. “So, I would like to pass some money on to you.”

Dracus gave Spivey $300, a gesture that he said he was truly grateful for.

“It’s a wonderful feeling,” Spivey said. “I got a lot of friends and family who is helping me out during this rough time. So, it means a lot to me.”

He explained that his health challenges led to the amputation of one of his legs and has kept him from working.

“It’s been like 17 months, so I’m just waiting on social security,” Spivey said.

As for the Pass It On money, Spivey said he already knows how he plans on using it.

“I can maybe get my truck fixed because it’s down right now,” Spivey said. “[It] helps me get around to the doctor and stuff because by this being the county area, unincorporated area, MATA doesn’t come out this way. So, this will help me greatly.”
