MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is recovering after getting shot outside his Cordova home.

Now, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies need your help finding the shooter.

People living along Afton Grove Road in Cordova are asking questions Sunday morning about why the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office blue lights shined through their windows.

Aftermath of Afton Grove shooting.

Deputies said the call came in around 4:30 a.m. A man was reportedly found outside of a home in the 9200 block of Afton Grove Road.

The victim was immediately taken to the hospital in non-critical condition.

However, the shooter was gone and the situation has left neighbors on high alert.

People WREG spoke with said they heard about four to five shots Sunday morning.

They said they believed the shooting was a result of an attempted car theft.

Deputies have not confirmed a motive.

WREG spoke with multiple neighbors but all refused to go on camera for their own safety.

Off camera, they said the neighborhood is typically quiet and they were shocked to hear about the early morning disturbance.

With the neighborhood being one way in and one way out, deputies are hoping any surveillance videos or tips from neighbors can help lead them to the shooter and close the case.

At this time, investigators said this is an ongoing investigation.
