MEMPHIS, Tenn.– Memphis-Shelby County Schools brought in the upcoming school year with a pep rally at the FedEx Forum.
Hundreds of MSCS teachers and staff were lined up outside of the venue, waiting to get inside wearing their school colors.
“First of all, I’m grateful because we’re out the building. We are mingling with other colleagues. So, it’s a different environment. The vibes are good and I’m ready,” said Kierra Pratt, instructional facilitator at Holmes Road Elementary School.
There was a lot of school pride inside the FedEx Forum.
Eureka McAfee, a principal at Alcy Elementary School said, “I am super excited. We have three new teachers at my school and I’m looking forward to a fabulous 25-26 school year with the best staff in the entire world.”
And Central High School’s Mighty Warrior Marching Band performed at the rally.
“I am very excited. It’s a new year. New students, new staff, new things are in place to help our children to learn. So, I’m excited,” Pratt mentioned.
The first day for Memphis-Shelby County Schools is Monday, August 4 and the school district’s motto for the school year is ‘Ready. Set. Grow.’
