MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was arrested this week after Memphis Police say he stabbed his boyfriend while he was drunk.

On Friday, Memphis Police responded to an aggravated assault that occurred in the 1900 block of Philsar Ave.

Officers came in contact with a male victim with an apparent stab wound to the upper right arm.

The victim told officers that his boyfriend James Joiner, 34, came home seemingly intoxicated. The victim asked him for his keys back but Joiner refused to return them.

Joiner then retrieved a steak knife and allegedly stabbed the victim in the arm.

A witness intervened and was able to help subdue Joiner while the victim disarmed him and took the knife.

Officers found Joiner in the back bedroom and placed him into custody without incident.

He admitted to investigators that he armed himself with the knife and “waved it” at the victim.

Joiner has been charged with aggravated assault.
