MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A child was hospitalized on Saturday after getting injured by fireworks.

At 1:12 p.m., officers responded to an ambulance call regarding the handling of fireworks in the 3700 block of Dorado Ave.

An 11-year-old boy was taken to the hospital in non-critical condition.

A witness said that he was outside with the victim, lighting fireworks.

He said he had a cherry bomb firework in his hand and was about to light it when the victim asked to hold it.

The witness handed the Cherry Bomb to the victim and lit it. The firework exploded in the victim’s hand and caused severe damage.
