MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A now-former Paris, Tennessee police officer and his wife have been accused of child neglect, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Tuesday.

TBI says they were asked by the district attorney general on April 10 to investigate Alexandria Elkins, 23, and Brian Ray, 26.

Authorities say an investigation determined Elkins and Ray were responsible for injuries to their 3-year-old child, which were found during a child custody hearing.

Elkins and Ray turned themselves in on Monday. They were each charged with one count of Child Abuse/Neglect/Endangerment. They were both booked into the Henry County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
