MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man from Memphis could be responsible for multiple home improvement store heists in Eastern Tennessee.
According to the Mt. Juliet Police Department, the 41-year-old was arrested Sunday after over $7,000 worth of merchandise was found in the back of his van.
Police said an officer patrolling some retail areas spotted the van parked at a Lowe’s without a license plate.
The officer said inside the van were stacks of merchandise in plain view. They said store employees had not discovered the theft yet.
Mt. Juliet police said the man driving the van ran from officers and was taken into custody after a short foot chase.
Investigators have not identified the man arrested, but believe he is connected to similar thefts across the region.
He was arrested for felony theft, burglary, and evading arrest at a Lowe’s last August.
