Man accused of stealing nearly $14,000 in gas from company

MEMPHIS, Tenn.– A funeral worker is behind bars for allegedly stealing almost $14,000 in gas using a company’s credit cards.

Memphis Police arrested Patrick Jacques Keys, 33, and charged him with theft of property ranging from $10,000 to $60,000.

Keys worked for Memphis Burial Vault.

According to police, on May 2 they received a report from someone that said Keys used the burial company’s credit cards assigned to each company vehicle from June 2024 until April 2025 to make unauthorized purchases for gas from several Memphis gas stations.

They even told authorities that Keys used the credit cards to pay for unleaded fuel, though the vehicles he drove for the company required diesel fuel.

It was also reported to police that Keys used his assigned personal pin number each time he purchased fuel.

This resulted in Memphis Burial Vault losing $13,990.35 in revenue.

Keys was arrested Tuesday and his court date is scheduled for Thursday morning at 9 a.m.
