Troopers’ pursuit ends in crash with MHP vehicle, charges for Senatobia man

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Mississippi Highway Patrol says a pursuit in DeSoto County ended with the suspect crashing into an MHP patrol car.

State troopers were conducting a safety checkpoint on Highway 301 around 5:30 Thursday when they say they saw a 1988 Ford pickup make a U-turn and speed away.


Troopers began a brief pursuit that ended near Star Landing Road, where the driver crashed into the patrol vehicle and was taken into custody.

The driver, 27-year-old Jacob Allen Smith of Senatobia, was charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors.
