MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two male teenagers are now in police custody after they were accused of dragging an Uber driver out of his car with a gun pointed at him before driving off in his vehicle early Tuesday morning.
A 17-year-old is charged with Carjacking, Employment of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, Attempted Aggravated Robbery, and Handgun Possession Prohibited.
The other 17-year-old is charged with Carjacking, Employment of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, and Attempted Aggravated Robbery.


According to the Memphis Police Department, around 1:40 a.m., officers responded to the 5000 block of Holly Ridge Drive regarding a carjacking.
The victim told police he was working as an Uber driver when two teens approached him, asking to use his phone. That is when he says he let his window down.
At that time, police say one of the teens opened the victim’s car door, pointed a gun at him, demanded his phone, and dragged him from the vehicle.
Both suspects are accused of getting into the victim’s Kia EV6 and leaving the scene.
Later that day, around 8 p.m., officers say the Memphis Airport Police detained two males for trespassing. The two armed males had allegedly walked away from a Kia EV6 before being detained.
The teens were then transferred to MPD custody.
