MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was left critically injured after being shot early Friday morning at a gas station in the Soulsville area, according to the Memphis Police Department. The suspect is still on the run.

Officers say they responded to an aggravated assault call just before 2:50 a.m. at the Parkway Express gas station on 1393 Mississippi Boulevard.

A male victim was found at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds. He was then taken to Regional One Hospital in critical condition.

MPD says video footage from the scene showed the victim walking in front of the store when a male suspect approached him from behind, firing several shots at him.

As the victim stumbled, police say the suspect was seen on video getting a second gun from his waistband and firing more shots. He is then seen leaving the business northbound on Mississippi Boulevard, eastbound on Bullington Avenue.

“It appears he may have known, they may have known each other, but we’re not clear on that yet,” said Colonel Carlos Davis, Memphis Police Department.

The suspect is described as a man wearing a black hoodie, blue with a white logo, blue bucket hat, black pants, white shoes with orange and green on the back, a blue glove on his right hand, and a black face covering. Police also say he had two silver-colored handguns.

“We have to look out for one another and put the guns down. Memphis is an excellent place to live,” Colonel Davis said. “I live here. A great place to live. The narrative says it’s not, but it is to live and grow up.”

This is still an ongoing investigation.
