MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 19-year-old man is dead and a 16-year-old is injured after a shooting early Thursday morning at a North Memphis apartment complex, Memphis Police confirm.

Around 3:30 a.m., officers say they responded to a shooting call in the 200 block of Bickford Avenue. It’s alleged that a gunman shot through the bedroom window in a targeted attack.

The 19-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 16-year-old was taken to the hospital in non-critical condition, but has been released.

Inside the same unit were two small girls under the age of ten, along with their mother, who managed to get out unharmed.

The mother of the two girls was placed in the back of a police cruiser and taken away from the scene. Police say a man at the scene was detained due to an unrelated incident.

No suspect information is available at this time, but this is still an ongoing investigation.
