MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two security guards were shot overnight outside a club in Southwest Memphis and later arrested, police say.
According to Memphis Police, officers responded to the shooting in the 4000 block of Third Street at Lucilles Club around 12:15 a.m. Two security guards were found suffering from gunshot wounds.
One of the security guards said a man came to the club and tried to walk past security without being searched. That is when the guard says he told the suspect he couldn’t go in without being patted down and the man became argumentive.
The man is accused of pushing the guard to the ground, causing a struggle between the two. Afterward, the man walked to his car but refused to leave the parking lot.
Police say the guards stood by the suspect’s driver-side door and told the man that they would call the police if he did not leave.
The man then cocked back a black handgun and fired shots at the security guards while driving off, police say. He was last seen driving northbound on South Third Street.

One security guard was shot in the left hand and forearm. The other guard was shot in his right groin area and his left leg. They were both taken to Regional One Hospital in non-critical condition.
After further investigation, both guards were arrested. Police say one of the guards is a convicted felon and was in possession of a firearm. The guard had a criminal history of Aggravated Assault with a guilty plea last year in October.
The other guard was in possession of a gun that was reported stolen out of Pontotoc County, Mississippi back in May, police say. The weapon had a small metal lever known to make the firearm automatic.
This is still an ongoing investigation.
