MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman will not face charges after her husband was shot to death last week in Crockett County, Tennessee, due to deputies ruling the case as self-defense.
According to the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office, they determined that charges will not be pursued against Kylie King after she used a weapon to defend herself in a “desperate attempt to safeguard her life, the life of her unborn child, and the two children in the home.”
On April 17, her husband, John King III, was found shot dead in the 6000 block of Chestnut Bluff-Maury City Road.
During the investigation, deputies say Mrs. King was under severe attack when she acted to protect herself. Physical evidence was said to have shown that Mrs. King faced multiple forms of assault, including being attacked with a knife, a pistol, and strangulation.
The District Attorney’s office says they will not file charges after confirming that Mrs. King was being physically assaulted by her husband, with the two other children present in the home.
“We ask the community to keep Kylie and her children in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” said Frederick H. Agee, District Attorney General.
