MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One person was taken to a hospital early Sunday after shots were fired outside a popular club in Hickory Hill, Memphis Police say.
Officers responded to the District 12 Social Club on Winchester Road around 1:30 a.m.
Witnesses say they were outside the club when they heard several shots fired. Two witnesses said someone inside a car fired shots at the club, but their accounts differed on what kind of car it was.
A victim was found on the ground, unresponsive but breathing. Police said that person was taken to Regional One in critical condition.
A Range Rover with a man inside had also been hit by bullets, police said.
There was no information on suspects Sunday morning.
District 12 issued a statement on its Instagram page Sunday, emphasizing that there was no disturbance inside the club, and that they are working with law enforcement and maintaining enhanced security.
“A random individual traveling along Winchester Road opened fire toward the establishment. One person was injured in the incident and is currently receiving medical attention. Thankfully, there were no fatalities,” the post stated. “We are praying for the young man who was injured, and our hearts are with him and his family during this time.”
