MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police are investigating after separate overnight shootings cost two men their lives.

At 12:26 a.m., officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the 3200 block of Cookie Cove, where a man and woman had gotten into a verbal altercation.

To defuse the situation, officers said they took the man to a location in the 3100 block of Craig Street.

When they arrived, they found a male victim who’d been shot to death.

Police detained the man they had brought to the Craig Street location.

According to police, preliminary information said that the man detained and the dead man knew each other. They’d allegedly gotten in a verbal altercation before the shooting occurred.

A little over an hour later, officers responded to a shooting in the 1700 block of Madison Avenue.

They found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One man was taken to Regional One in non-critical condition and the other was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to police, preliminary information suggests that an altercation occurred between the two men in a bar.

One man was shot by the other and was sent to the hospital.

Police said a third man shot the person responsible for the first shooting.
