MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two repeat offenders were taken into custody for allegedly breaking into three businesses in the Cooper-Young area.

Kendrick Allen, 23, is charged with three counts of Burglary of a Building and Vandalism.

Anthony Merriweather, 31, was charged with two counts of Burglary of a Building.

A little after 1:30 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to a burglary at Soul Fish in the 800 block of South Cooper Street. They saw a broken door at the scene.

While there, a second alarm went off across the street at Daily Market, and officers were given a description of the suspects.

An MPD officer saw the suspects at Evelyn Avenue near Cooper Street. They were taken into custody.

The owner of Maciel’s Tortas & Tacos, which is also located on Cooper Street, flagged down police and told them his business had also been broken into.

The suspects’ bonds have not been set at this time.

Both suspects are repeat offenders.

Police say Allen was previously arrested for Criminal Trespass, Disorderly Conduct, Harassment, Public Intoxication, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Merriweather was previously arrested for Aggravated Criminal Trespass.
