MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis firefighter is charged with attempted murder after he allegedly got into a fight and shot at a man in Walmart.
On January 19, Memphis Police responded to a call at the Walmart on Shelby Drive. A security guard told them that two men had gotten into a fight inside the store.
During the fight, police say Spencer Hamilton made several threats, stating that he was “going to kill” the other man.

The security guard broke up the fight and walked the other man outside. Hamilton reportedly ran past them both to get to his car and grab a gun. The victim took cover once he saw the weapon.
Hamilton searched for the victim and found him running across the parking lot; he then fired a shot at him.
MPD says Hamilton went back inside the store and told others “Y’all wait here. I’m about to kill this [expletive].”
Both men were taken into custody for questioning. The victim identified Hamilton in a lineup.
Spencer Hamilton is charged with Attempted First-Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm. He is set to appear in court Monday.
According to the Memphis Fire Department, Hamilton has been relieved of duty pending an investigation.
