MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is now dead after being hit by a car in East Memphis early Wednesday morning, according to police.
Just before 4 a.m., officers say they were driving on Poplar Avenue near Cresthaven when they saw a man unresponsive in the street.
The man was then rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police blocked off Poplar Avenue near Cresthaven during the investigation. It has now reopened.
No suspect information is available at this time, but this is still an ongoing investigation.
