Man fires shot during robbery of Parkway Village store

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Police Department is searching for the man who robbed a Parkway Village grocery store on Saturday.

Officers responded to the robbery at 4322 Winchester Road at Supermercado Guatemala 502 just after 1 p.m. Police say a man walked into the business armed with an AR-style rifle, pointed the gun at the cashier, and demanded money from the cash register.

The suspect can be seen in a video provided by the MPD, pointing the gun at the floor and firing one shot into the ground next to the cashier.

The cashier gave the suspect the money and he fled the business, driving away in a silver four-door Honda Pilot.

The MPD describes the suspect as an approximately 30-year-old man with a medium build. He was seen wearing a black face mask, a blue long-sleeve T-shirt, blue jeans, and black and red tennis shoes.

“They have kids and families and stuff that go and be shopping in there,” said one shopper, Jeahon Taylor. “People don’t care nowadays, you know everybody trying to make a living and I don’t think that’s right.”
