MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The man accused of shooting his girlfriend to death and throwing their newborn baby into the Mississippi River back in 2022 faced a judge on Friday morning.
Brandon Isabelle is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and neglect, and aggravated kidnapping.
He was indicted in the murders of Danielle Hoyle and their two-day-old baby, Kennedy Hoyle. He was supposed to stand trial back in June, but it was pushed back to September 22.

“A family is still seeking justice after the tragic deaths of their loved ones. It’s been more than three years, and they just want closure and a sense of peace,” said April Campbell, Danielle’s mother. “I just hate the fact that he can call his mama. My baby can’t call me.”
Campbell says she’s raising Danielle’s oldest daughter, and though it has been tough, she’s remaining prayerful.
On February 1, 2022, Hoyle was found dead outside her vehicle in Whitehaven. Police say Isabelle confessed to luring Hoyle to the intersection of Sedgwick and Levi and shooting her in the head.
Police say Isabelle claimed that he took their daughter, two-day-old Kennedy, drove her to the north end of Mud Island where the Wolf River enters the Mississippi River, and allegedly threw the infant in the water.
Detectives say after he threw the baby in the river, he went to Walgreens to buy gifts for his other girlfriend, then went to Walmart to try to discard the infant’s car seat.
Video shows Isabelle confessing to shooting Danielle, throwing her baby and the gun used to shoot her in the Mississippi River, and saying he did all of this because he did not want the child.
The judge moved not to suppress that confession.
The next status date is Sept. 8; the trial is set for Sept. 22.
