MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Interstate 55 Mississippi River Bridge will be closing for two weeks for construction, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
The bridge is set to close on Sunday, June 9 at 8 p.m. until Sunday, June 23 at 8 p.m.
TDOT says during this time, their contract crews will continue construction activities on the I-55 and Crump interchange.
Crews plan to perform a hydro demolition on the bridge deck and provide a new polymer concrete overlay if weather permits.
I-55 northbound will be closed at South Parkway in Tennessee and I-55 southbound will be closed at Bridgeport Road in Arkansas.
The I-55 southbound ramp and Crump Boulevard westbound will also be closed.
Local Memphis traffic can continue to the McLemore exit. All drivers are urged to use caution while traveling the area.
