MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A FedEx truck was robbed in Hickory Hill on Tuesday afternoon and four male suspects are still at large.

MPD says at 12:58 p.m., officers responded to an armed robbery call at 7213 Winchester Road beside Neely’s Interstate BBQ, where packages were stolen from a FedEx truck.

Surveillance video shows a maroon SUV pulling up alongside a FedEx van. Several men in ski masks and black clothing get out. According to Memphis police, the suspects were armed.

Omar Ali owns 901 Smoke and Vape just a few doors down, and he says he saw the whole thing.

“They come in in the day time, a lot of traffic, in front of everybody, they don’t care. They have masks, they robbed the guy right there,” he said.

Ali says this is just the latest incident. He says his shop has been broken into four times in two years. He’s thinking about selling his business.

“We’re working hard in this life to enjoy the life. There’s too many opportunities in America for people to make money. Why does this generation rob people?” Ali said.

And according to the Memphis Data Hub, there have been six incidents of burglary and theft within a quarter mile of the shop in the last year.

Just last month, FedEx addressed the issue of rising truck robberies all across the nation, explaining they have rigorous safety and security programs in place and regularly work with federal and local law enforcement.

FedEx sent the following statement Tuesday: “The safety of our team members and the security of our customers’ shipments are top priorities, and we are grateful there were no serious injuries as a result of this incident on Winchester Road this afternoon. We are fully cooperating with Memphis Police as they investigate.”

There were no reported injuries. If you have any information that could help police, call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.
