MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One person is injured and facing charges after troopers say they led them on a chase and hit another vehicle in Frayser Friday morning.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says it all started when they tried to initiate a traffic stop on a Ford Focus on Interstate 240 around 11 a.m.

However, troopers say the driver refused to stop. At that time, a chase was initiated.

During the chase, the Ford Focus is accused of driving over a curb at the intersection of North Watkins Street and Whitney Avenue, hitting a Honda CR-V.

The driver of the Honda was not injured.

THP says the driver in the Ford Focus was injured and they have been identified as 27-year-old Jelissa Smith.

Smith is charged with a suspended driver’s license, felony evading, aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, no insurance, and no seatbelt.
