MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police were called to investigate a possible attempted child abduction along the Wolf River Greenway Saturday afternoon.
An 8-year-old boy told officers he was grabbed by a stranger while running ahead of his family on the trail near Wolf River Boulevard and Kirby Road.
The boy said a male with dirty blonde hair grabbed him, but he was able to break free and run back to his mother. He told police the man did not say anything and was not trying to pull him in any direction.
He said the man was about 6’0 tall and wearing a black sweatshirt, pants, and blue shoes. The victim’s mother said she did not see the man.
One person on the trail with his child Saturday said he noticed the boy running toward his family but didn’t find out what had happened until he was back in the parking lot.
The man, who didn’t want to be identified, said he didn’t see anything but is reminding parents to talk to their kids about stranger danger.
Officers said they checked the area and did not find anyone fitting the suspect’s description.
The child was not hurt. If you have any information that can help police with their investigation, Call CrimeStoppers at (901)528-CASH.
