MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police are investigating after a car drove through a North Memphis home Thursday morning.
The accident happened in the 900 block of South McLean Boulevard a little before 6 a.m.
Police say an elderly woman, attempting to back out of her driveway, lost control of her car, ultimately slamming into a neighboring home.
She allegedly crossed three lanes of traffic, jumped the curb, and plowed into the home, where a family lives.
Part of the brick home was left in crumbles.
The family, still in a state of shock, didn’t want to go on camera, but they did allow us to see from the inside, the car sitting in the spot where family dinners and gatherings have happened over the 15 years they have lived there.
“I am so glad everybody is okay, but I hate to see an accident like this happen. I really do,” said neighbor Elizabeth Oliver.
About two hours after the car crashed into the home, it was being removed. The homeowner says she has a long journey ahead.
