MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A group of people tried to break into an Amazon truck that got stuck on Holmes Road because of ice Thursday morning.
WREG talked to the driver who said his truck had been jackknifed since 11 p.m. Wednesday.
“I just stopped in the middle of the road. The truck started going back and I slid. I jackknifed going into the ditch,” said Hassen Abagisa, the stranded truck driver.

He said he called a tow truck, but no one came to help him. A group of people asked if he was okay, then got on the phone to call someone.
Moments later, the driver said more than 10 people arrived and tried to break into his truck. After he confronted them, they left.
“I scared them off, I told them not to touch,” the driver said. “I didn’t go anywhere, I just stayed there the whole night. I didn’t sleep the whole night.”
The driver said he called the police but they didn’t come immediately. Memphis Police say they are investigating.
