MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man wanted for nearly seven years after a deadly East Memphis shooting in 2018 is set to be in court.
A warrant was issued for the man in 2022, but it took until last Thursday for him to be taken into custody.
The U.S. Marshal’s office says they spent weeks preparing for this take down and after nearly seven years on the run, he was arrested.
Dakarin Arnett is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 20-year-old Jerald Holiday Jr.
Holiday was found shot to death in September of 2018 at the intersection of Kaye Road and White Station Road.
Arnett was 16 years old at the time of the shooting. Memphis police issued a warrant for his arrest in 2022.
Just last week, he was taken into custody by marshals, task force members and Memphis Police Department’s fugitive and tact units at a house in Whitehaven.
He surrendered with no issues.

While it took seven years for an arrest to be made, U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller is happy someone will be held accountable.
“Sometimes these things take time and while it’s unfortunate at the end of the day, this person will be held accountable and he will have a court date and he will have to answer to these charges,” Miller said.
Arnett also had previous outstanding warrants for aggravated assault and domestic assault.
