MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One person is dead and two others are injured after separate overnight shootings in Orange Mound and South Memphis, Memphis Police confirm.

Officers responded to the Save and Go gas station at 2335 Park Avenue a little after 1 a.m. One person was found at the scene suffering from a gunshot wound.

The man was reported shot on Saratoga Avenue and ran to the gas station for help.

According to a police report, a witness told officers that she heard the victim tell someone riding a scooter to get away from him because he “set him up.”

The man was then taken to Regional One Hospital in critical condition.

At the same time, officers say they received a complaint that another person was shot in the 1100 block of Ethel Street.

The shooting victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

“We need some help on these streets, especially in Orange Mound, Tennessee,” one resident said.

This is the second deadly shooting to happen in this neighborhood within a week. Just one week ago today. Memphis Police responded to another deadly shooting that happened at a home just a few doors down from the one that happened this morning.

However, in that case, Memphis police were able to arrest and charge an individual with first-degree murder.

“This is what our kids are growing up and seeing. Our five and six-year-olds are looking up to the 16 and 17-year-olds, and they are already in jail,” a resident said.

Around 12:30 a.m., officers say they responded to a shooting at an apartment complex in the 30 block of Ila Court. A female victim was found at the scene suffering from a gunshot wound and glass shrapnel on the top of her head.

The victim’s boyfriend told police they were in bed asleep when they heard shots ring out through their bedroom wall.

Officers say the day before, they responded to the same apartment after the woman said the father of her child threatened to shoot up her apartment. 9mm rounds were found on the scene.

She was then taken to the hospital in non-critical condition.

A Department of Children’s Services referral was also completed, police say.

No suspect information is available in either of these incidents at this time. But this is still an ongoing investigation.
