MEMPHIS, Tenn– We are at the beginning of another scorching hot week in the Mid-South, and while many of us are working indoors, some of us are not that fortunate.

Construction workers, street vendors, roofers, and landscapers are some of the people that are working hard outdoors in this summer heat to make our communities a better place.

“I try to encourage my guys to take as many breaks as they feel like they need, but if it’s just like absurd and ridiculous, we can move things around,” Green Earth Landscaping and Irrigation manager, Skylar Moss.

“But on a weekly basis, they have the same amount of work,” Moss said.

And while the company has groups all over the city, Skylar says she tries to make sure her guys stay cool, but said they are focused on getting the job done.

“They know how to kinda pace themselves. I try to be good in terms of bringing them Gatorade and liquid IV’s and those cooling towels and little stuff like that I can, but they really have to do the best they can to tough it out,” Moss mentions.

If you are working out in the heat this summer, the best thing you can do is listen to your body.

“You know if you are out and starting to feel a little flushed, you’re sweating, your heart rates up a little bit, you may be feeling heat exhaustion and that’s really your body warning you that you have to get out of that heat,” said Methodist Chief Medical Officer, Dale Criner.
