MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for counties in the Memphis area.

All of Shelby, DeSoto and Tate counties are affected. Parts of Tipton, Fayette, Tunica, Panola and Marshall counties are also under the warning, as well as a very small part of the northwest corner of Benton County.

The warning will last until 11:45 p.m.

A separate warning was issued for Dyer County until 9:45 p.m.

Rain and thunderstorms will pass through the area, and residents should take caution to avoid areas prone to flooding.

About 1 to 2 inches of rain fell between 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., according to the NWS.

The NWS forecasted 1 to 3 more inches of rain from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
