MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for southeastern Shelby and southern Fayette counties in Tennessee and northeastern DeSoto County in Mississippi on Wednesday.

The warnings were later allowed to expire.

There have been heavy rains in the area but no severe storms.

The NWS encouraged those in the affected area to move to higher ground and stay safe.

Avoid driving, as most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
