MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A couple accused of carjacking a man at a stoplight is in jail.

WREG found the charged couple was no stranger to the law.

Kindra Shorter and Rozelie Curtis are accused of robbing the man with a stun gun.

A witness at the Days Inn on American Way did not want to be identified but told WREG cameras captured the couple in August stealing stuff from rooms.

Shorter went to jail for the crime, and Curtis was mentioned in the report but never faced charges. Shorter’s case was later thrown out.

“This shouldn’t even be happening,” a witness told WREG. “I don’t even know why they let them out the first time. They already caught them. So why would they let them out?”

Frustrations boiled over after police had said the couple carjacked a man with a Taser on Thursday.

“Stole his car? Let me lock my doors,” one man said.

Some people were not surprised after learning Shorter was accused of stealing another car from a gas station on Winchester Road in January.

“Naw. This normal around here,” a concerned citizen said.

Court documents revealed Shorter and an unknown man also robbed someone for $14 in August. Again, the case was dismissed, and Shorter was released from jail.

Police said they know the couple all too well, while neighbors want nothing to do with them.

Neighbors hope there is enough evidence to make the charges stick this time.
