GERMANTOWN Tenn — Two men are behind bars after police say a man found one of them inside his parent’s home. It happened in the Devonshire neighborhood.
The man didn’t want to be identified, but said he entered his parents home just after 9am Friday morning and found a man in the master bedroom. He told us he must have startled the man as he took off running out a back door.
A neighbor saw strange man and another man running from the home and across the street toward a silver Nissan Xterra SUV. Police believe the second man was waiting outside.
The neighbor jotted down a license plate number and called police. Officers were in the area and pulled the SUV over with that plate several blocks away.
They arrested Alexander Heglar and Marland Sanders.
Witnesses to the traffic stop said the men had lots of items stashed in the back of the SUV as if they had been to a garage sale.
Police were already on the lookout for two men in a silver Nissan Xterra, wanted for several dozen auto and garage thefts in that same area of Germantown as well as Collierville.
Police won’t link the men to the auto thefts but say they are looking at them for other possible crimes in the area.
Victims of other thefts tell us they hope police are able to determine if the items in the back of the SUV are their stolen goods.
