The owner of Bahama Breeze is eyeing a potential sale or conversion of the restaurant chain.  During an investor earnings call on Friday , Darden Concepts CEO Rick Cardenas said Bahama Breeze was not a strategic priority and that the chain might benefit from a new owner.

“We think they have a lot of growth potential with another owner,” Cardenas said.  “We were not going to be putting a lot of investment into Bahama Breeze.”

The comments come weeks after Darden closed 15 Bahama Breeze restaurants across the country, including its location near the Wolfchase Galleria in Memphis.

Cardenas said Darden is considering selling Bahama Breeze or converting the chain to one of its many other brands.  Darden owns Olive Garden, Longhorn Steakhouse, Cheddar’s, Chuy’s, The Capital Grille, and Ruth’s Chris Steak House, among other chains.
